The Kootenay-Columbia Discovery Centre Society (KCDCS) is excited to offer environmental educational programming at the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area (CVWMA) in 2019

School programs are available for elementary and high school students.  Take a look at the information below...we will be updating the information and adding a informational poster in March of 2019.  In the meantime, we do take bookings for the 2019 spring season now...

Elementary Programs

Wetland Excursions!!

K-3: Nature Detectives

Explore, observe and learn about the ever changing wetland and how the plants and animals that live here survive and adapt to life in a wet land!

Gr.4-7: Bird Behaviour 101

We will showcase the amazing adaptations birds have to survive, reproduce and interact with their environment!

Programs include a presentation, guided walk and dip netting component

Cost: $4 per student  •  Duration: 2 hours 

Canoe Tours!!  For Grades 4 & up

Part the cattails to look for nests, taste some wetland treats and learn more about the plants and animals that live here.  Add this onto our other programs for a fun filled day!

Cost: $5 per student  •  Duration: 1 hour


High School Programs


Gr. 8-12: Stewardship Program

Perform hands-on habitat restoration activities such as removing invasive plant species and shoreline cleanups. 

Cost: By Donation  •  Duration: 2+ hours

Canoe Tours!! 

Explore the wetland by paddling the ponds and channels, learning about wetland ecology, adaptations and the wildlife that call the wetland home.  Add this onto the stewardship program for a fun filled day!

Cost: $5 per student  •  Duration: 1 hour

Program Availability: Tuesday to Friday, May 14th to June 27th and September 10th to October 4th, 2019

Note - there is a $60 minimum charge for the Elementary Program.   

No minimum for canoe tours.  Canoe tours not available in fall.
